SAMVAAD: Building Employee Assurance and Connectivity

CHALLENGES

Despite exceptional company growth, GRIL faced a significant challenge in keeping its employees informed and assured about their career prospects. Blue-collar employees, stationed at various sites across the country, lacked awareness of the company’s progress and expansion due to limited access to digital communication channels. This disconnect led to uncertainty about their future and low engagement among employees.

Investigation and Insights

Upon investigating the issue, we discovered:
 

  1. Employees at different sites were unaware of the progress and milestones achieved at other locations.

  2. The low adoption of technology and limited access to social media and online platforms further hindered effective communication.

  3. The lack of shared success stories and updates contributed to employees feeling disconnected from the company’s growth and vision.

Solution

To address these challenges, we launched Samvaad, a print-based internal newsletter, as a unified communication platform.
 

Content Strategy:

  • Highlighted the company’s achievements, ongoing projects, and expansion milestones to keep employees informed.

  • Included employee-centric stories, such as individual contributions, recognitions, and success tales, to foster a sense of pride and belonging.

  • Integrated leadership messages to reinforce trust in the company’s vision and direction.
     

ACCESSIBLE FORMAT:

  • Distributed Samvaad in a print format to each site, ensuring accessibility for employees with limited technological exposure.

  • Used simple, engaging language and visually appealing designs to maximize readership.
     

EMPLOYEE ENGAGEMENT:

  • Featured site-specific updates to make content relevant and relatable.

  • Encouraged feedback and participation through interactive sections, such as employee shoutouts and Q&A with management.

  • Enhanced Awareness: Employees gained clarity on the company’s growth trajectory and expansion plans, fostering a sense of job security and pride.
     

  • Improved Morale: The initiative reassured employees about their future within the organization, leading to higher engagement and satisfaction levels.
     

  • Stronger Connection: Samvaad became a bridge, connecting employees across 22 states and enabling them to celebrate the company’s collective achievements.

RESULTS

Conclusion

Samvaad transformed internal communication at GRIL, providing a platform that bridged the gap between the company’s vision and its employees. By addressing the challenges of technology adoption and geographical dispersion, the newsletter reinforced a culture of transparency and inclusivity, ensuring employees felt valued and aligned with the company’s success.
